Biography

Jackie Allen, born February 19, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is an American jazz singer. Growing up in a musical family, she studied voice and jazz at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before moving to Chicago where she released her debut album Never Let Me Go in 1994. Allen's career took off with collaborations such as Santa Baby and Autumn Leaves with Judy Roberts, and notable projects like Which, featuring musicians including Red Holloway and Gary Foster. She signed with Blue Note Records in 2006 for the album Tangled. In 2017, Allen released Rose Fingered Dawn, a collection of original songs written by Hans Sturm. Throughout her career, she has taught at various institutions, including Elmhurst College and Roosevelt University.
