Jack Maurice Millman, born on November 21, 1930, in Detroit, was an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player. He began his professional career in the early 1950s, contributing to recordings with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, including "Mambo Rhapsody" (1952). His debut EP, Jazz Studio 4, was released in 1955 on Decca Records, featuring arrangements by notable figures such as Don Friedman and Jimmy Giuffre. Millman collaborated with artists like Lin Halliday, Buddy Collette, and Maynard Ferguson. He performed with an 18-piece big band at the Rendezvous Ballroom in Balboa, California, and later shifted his focus to surf and rock music, working with Dick Dale, Jan & Dean, and the Beach Boys. In 1962, he retired from playing trumpet to establish a music library in Hollywood while continuing his composition work for film soundtracks. Millman lived in West Palm Beach, Florida, from 2002 until his death in 2022 in Gainsville.
