Huáscar Barradas (born June 12, 1964) is a Venezuelan jazz, world, and folk flutist, composer, producer, and professor from Maracaibo. He studied at the José Luis Paz Conservatory and was a founding member of the first Children's National Orchestra within the âEl Sistemaâ program. Barradas studied in the United States at San Jacinto College, Brooklyn College, and Juilliard, mentored by Bernard Goldberg and Ron Carter. Barradas served as principal flutist for the Symphonic Orchestra of Maracaibo and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Venezuela. His debut album, Folklore from Venezuela, appeared in 1993. His discography includes TrÃo Acústico Venezolano (2002) and Dos Mundos 2 (2012). Barradas received Latin Grammy nominations in 2011 and 2013. He won Pepsi Venezuela Music Awards in 2012 and 2013. Barradas teaches at the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales in Caracas.
