Hollie Smith, born on November 17, 1982, in Auckland, New Zealand, is a singer-songwriter. At age 16, she made the album Light From a Distant Shore. In 2007, she released her first solo album Long Player, which debuted at Number 1 on the RIANZ albums chart and went gold. Following a hiatus, Smith returned with Humour and the Misfortune of Others in 2010, again topping the charts. She continued her success with Water or Gold in 2016 and Coming in from the Dark in 2021, both debuting at Number 1. Notable collaborations include work with Don McGlashan and Mt Raskil Preservation Society on "Bathe in the River" (2006).
