Yvonne Gage, born on December 20, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American singer known for her contributions to neo soul and soul music. She began singing in the church choir and joined a local R&B band, The Soulettes, at age 14. The band released Love at First Sight under Chicago International Music in 1980, but Gage had already left to become a backing vocalist for Captain Sky. While touring, she met producer Don Burnside, who produced her first solo single "Garden of Eve" in 1981 for Atlantic Records. In 1984, Gage released her debut album Virginity under Chicago International Music, with production by Burnside. The album featured the controversial song "Doin' It in a Haunted House," which reached number 45 on the UK Singles chart and number 78 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Another single from the album, "Lover of My Dreams," entered the UK Top 40 charts at number 79. Gage later released singles in 1990, 2002, and 2011 but did not achieve the same level of success as her earlier work. Throughout her career, she has provided session vocals for notable artists including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald, and Celine Dion.
