Hilde Hefte, born on September 1, 1956, in Kristiansand, Norway, is a Norwegian jazz singer. She began her musical journey playing saxophone and clarinet under the tutelage of her father before transitioning to vocals and piano at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo. Her debut solo album Round Chet's Midnight was released in 1999 and received favorable reviews, including praise from Down Beat Magazine. Hefte has since released several albums, including Playsong: The Music of Bill Evans (2001), Hildes bossaHefte (2003), An Evening in Prague (2007), and Quiet Dreams (2017). She has also composed music for various artists and theatre productions, and founded Norsk Jazzforlag in 2003 and the record label Ponca Jazz Records in 2004. Hefte's contributions to jazz have been recognized with awards such as the Kristiansand Municipality Culture Award in 2016 and the Southern Norwegian Jazz Center Award in 2015.
