Helium Vola, a German electro-medieval band, was founded in 2001 by Ernst Horn. The project emerged from Horn's desire to merge medieval poetry and music with contemporary electronic sounds. Helium Vola released their debut self-titled album in 2001. The band's subsequent albums include Liod (2004), Für Euch, die Ihr liebt, and Wohin? (2013). Notable collaborators include Sabine Lutzenberger, who contributed vocals to several albums. The band's music features medieval lyrics in a modern electronic soundscape, with complex song structures and ensemble pieces. Helium Vola performed live on occasions such as the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in 2002 and has also worked with Baroque specialist Joel Frederiksen.
