Biography

H-Blockx was founded in Münster in 1990. The band plays crossover and combines rock, funk and rap. Key members include Henning Wehland (vocals), Sascha Gerstner (guitar), Gudze Gautsch (bass), Tim Tenholt (drums) and David Gappa (guitar). The band emerged in the context of the German crossover movement of the 1990s and developed an international sound early on. H-Blockx performs throughout Europe and in the USA and plays at major festivals. The breakthrough came with their debut album Time To Move (1994), which reached the top 20 in Germany. The single "Move" becomes one of the band's best-known tracks. This was followed by Discover My Soul (1996), which also achieved high chart positions. With Fly Eyes (1998), the band changed their style and integrated more rock elements. The album Get In The Ring (2002) marks a return to heavier sounds. After a break, No Excuses (2004) is released. This is followed by HBLX (2012), which builds on earlier successes. Well-known singles include "Risin' High", "Take Me Home" and "Countdown to Insanity". In March 2026, H-Blockx returned with the album Fillin_the_Blank. The album climbs to number 3 in the German charts.
