Biography

Harald Hagen Lassen (born 13 March 1987 in Kristiansand, Norway) is a jazz and pop saxophonist, pianist, vocalist, and composer. He trained as a pianist before focusing on the saxophone at Toneheim Folkehøgskole (2006–2007) and the Norwegian Academy of Music (2008–2012). Lassen performed as a member of the groups Pixel, Mopti, DUPLEX, and the pop band no. 4. His solo discography includes Rainbow Session (2016), Eventyrer (2018), and Human Samling (2020). In 2024, Lassen received the Spellemannprisen in the jazz category for his 2023 album Balans. He has collaborated with artists including Jon Christensen, Arild Andersen, Mathias Eick, and Tord Gustavsen. In 2014, Lassen relocated to Zanzibar to establish a jazz program at the Dhow Countries Music Academy. He served on the board of the Oslo Jazzfestival starting in 2015.
