Biography
Hanoi Rocks, a Finnish rock band, was formed in Helsinki in 1979 by Andy McCoy and Michael Monroe. The group initially gained traction in Finland and Sweden before moving to England to expand their audience. Their early albums, such as Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks (1981), laid the groundwork for their distinctive sound. In 1982, the band released Oriental Beat and Self Destruction Blues, which helped them gain a following in Europe and Asia. The group's breakthrough came with the album Two Steps From The Move (1984), which featured notable songs like "Up Around the Bend". However, tragedy struck when their drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley died in a car accident in December 1984. This event led to the band's dissolution in 1985. Hanoi Rocks reformed in 2001 with original members Michael Monroe and Andy McCoy, releasing several albums, including Twelve Shots On The Rocks (2002) and Another Hostile Takeover (2005). Their final album, Street Poetry, was released in 2007. Despite their disbandment in April 2009, Hanoi Rocks left a lasting impact on the rock music scene, influencing numerous artists and achieving significant chart success, particularly in Finland and Japan.
