Rodney Glenn Armstrong, known professionally as Guitar Slim Jr., was born on August 24, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is an American blues guitarist and singer, following in the footsteps of his father, the noted blues performer Guitar Slim. Guitar Slim Jr.'s career began with extensive work on the New Orleans blues club circuit. His breakthrough came with the release of Story of My Life in 1988, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album in 1989. He toured with Stevie Ray Vaughan in the late 1980s and released Nothing Nice in 1996, featuring the Memphis Horns. His most recent recorded work was Brought up the Hardway in 2010.
