Biography

Johnny Jones, known professionally as Little Sonny Jones, was born on April 15, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He started his singing career in the late 1940s and befriended Fats Domino, who gave him his nickname. In 1953, Jones released his debut single "Do You Really Love Me" for Specialty Records. The following year, he recorded four songs for Imperial Records produced by Dave Bartholomew. Although these records did not achieve commercial success, Jones continued to work as Fats Domino's opening act until 1961. In 1975, he returned to recording with the album New Orleans R&B Gems, initially released on the Netherlands-based Black Magic label and later reissued by Black Top Records in 1995. Jones passed away from heart failure on December 17, 1989, in New Orleans.
