Biography

Turkish rockers Gripin (which translates as "the flu") originally came to life as a covers band in late 1990s Istanbul and have over the years evolved into a pre-eminent force in alternative rock. Comprising members Birol Namoğlu (vocals), Murat Başdoğan (guitar), Arda İnceoğlu (bass guitar), and İlker Baliç (drums), the band released their first album Hikayeler Anlatıldı ("The Stories are Told") in 2004, propelled by the singles "Karışmasın Kimseler" ("Don't Let Anyone Stand Between Us") and "Elalem" ("Everybody"). For their second self-titled album they lined up a flurry of collaborators, forging duets with a number of leading Turkish artists including Ferman Akgül and Pamela Spence. Two years later, they were recruited to write the theme song "Komşu Kızı" for the TV series Geniş Aile on Kanal D. Third album MS. 05.03.2010 arrived in 2010 with Yalnızlığın Çaresini Bulmuşlar following in 2012. The band re-emerged in 2017 following a five-year gap between albums with Nasılım Biliyor musun? A followednew single following five years later via "İçinde Tutma."
