Turkish rockers Gripin (which translates as "the flu") originally came to life as a covers band in late 1990s Istanbul and have over the years evolved into a pre-eminent force in alternative rock. Comprising members Birol NamoÄlu (vocals), Murat BaÅdoÄan (guitar), Arda İnceoÄlu (bass guitar), and İlker Baliç (drums), the band released their first album Hikayeler Anlatıldı ("The Stories are Told") in 2004, propelled by the singles "KarıÅmasın Kimseler" ("Don't Let Anyone Stand Between Us") and "Elalem" ("Everybody"). For their second self-titled album they lined up a flurry of collaborators, forging duets with a number of leading Turkish artists including Ferman Akgül and Pamela Spence. Two years later, they were recruited to write the theme song "KomÅu Kızı" for the TV series GeniÅ Aile on Kanal D. Third album MS. 05.03.2010 arrived in 2010 with YalnızlıÄın Ãaresini BulmuÅlar following in 2012. They've picked up a host of awards along the way, including Best Newcomer Band at the Hürriyet Altın Kelebek Ãdülleri (Golden Butterfly Awards) in 2007 and Best Rock Band at the Istanbul FM Gold Awards. The band re-emerged in 2017 following a five-year gap between albums with Nasılım Biliyor musun? A followednew single following five years later via "İçinde Tutma."
