Duman is a Turkish rock band that emerged in the late 1990s and gained significant popularity in the Turkish music scene. The band was formed in Istanbul in 1999 by of Kaan Tangöze (vocals and guitar), Batuhan Mutlugil (guitar), Ari Barokas (bass guitar), and Mehmet Demirdelen (drums). Characterized by a diverse range of influences, blending alternative rock, grunge, and punk elements, Duman's lyrics often touch upon various themes such as love, societal issues, and personal struggles, resonating with a broad audience. The band's debut album, Eski Köprünün Altında (Under the Old Bridge), released in 1999, quickly established them as a significant force in Turkish rock music with songs like "Köprüaltı" (1999) and Hayatı YaÅa (2002) becoming instant hits.Following their successful debut, Duman continued to release albums that resonated with fans across generations. Albums like Belki AlıÅman Lazım (2002), Seni Kendime Sakladım (2005) and Duman I and Duman II (2009) solidified their position as one of Turkey's most influential rock bands, earning them a dedicated fanbase. They composed a song titled "Eyvallah" following the May 2013 Taksim Gezi Park protests, following this with Yürek (2013), Melankoli (2014) and Ãyle Dertli (2015) â from sixth album album Darmaduman. Their 1999 track âDaÄlar BaÄlarâ saw a resurgence in 2023, re-entering the charts at number 198 after a considerable hiatus.
