Biography

The Swedish rock band Graveyard was formed in 2006 in Gothenburg, where guitar players Joakim Nilsson and Rikard Edlund — both of whom had previously performed with the groups Norrsken and Albatross — joined forces with drummer Axel Sjöberg and bassist Truls Mörck. Best known for the chart-topping albums Hisingen Blues and Peace, both of which reached Number 1 in Sweden, the group's catalog began with the self-titled debut album Graveyard in 2007. Released by Tee Pee Records, the album reached number 27 on Sweden's Hitlistan chart. When Graveyard returned to the studio to begin working on Hisingen Blues, Jonatan Ramm had replaced Mörck. Hisingen Blues was released in 2011 and reached Number 1 in Sweden. Lights Out followed in 2012, featuring an updated version of the band's blend of hard rock, psychedelic rock, and Swedish folk music. It peaked at number 3, with 2015's Innocence & Decadence reaching number 2. The band announced its breakup in 2016, only to recant the decision and reunite one year later. Graveyard's comeback proved to be commercially successful, with the band returning to the top of Sweden's album chart (which was now operating under a new name, Sverigetopplistan) with the 2018 release Peace. Featuring a harder sound than the albums before it, Peace doubled as an introduction to the group's new drummer, Oskar Bergenheinm. In 2023, Graveyard returned with its sixth album, the aptly titled 6, which reached number 14.
