Virginia Leigh Owens, known as Ginny Owens, was born on April 22, 1975, in Jackson, Mississippi. She is an American singer and songwriter who became blind at age three. She earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Belmont University in 1997. Owens entered the music industry by writing songs for Michael Puryear's Final Four Publishing and signed with Rocketown Records. Her debut album, Without Condition, was released on July 20, 1999. She won the Nashville "Lilith Fair '99 Talent Search," performing at that yearâs festival. Owens received three Dove Awards, including New Artist of the Year in 2000 and Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year in 2001 for "Blessed" with Rachael Lampa and Cindy Morgan. She released several albums, including Live From New Orleans (2005), Get In I'm Driving (2011), and I Know A Secret (2014).
