Gingersamm is a Japanese two-piece band formed in September 2024 by vocalist-guitarist Kyoshi Yamada, originally from Okayama, and drummer Tomoya Kataoka from Hokkaido. Blending elements of US folk with R&B and hip-hop, the duo crafts a delicate yet modern sound built on intimate songwriting and groove-driven rhythms. At the core of Gingersammâs music is Yamadaâs whisper-like vocal delivery and introspective lyricismâremarkable for a songwriter still in his early twentiesâpaired with Kataokaâs fluid, textured drumming. Their early releases quickly drew attention for their understated production and emotional depth. The single "Sugata" (2025) and the digital release "Somari"(2025) later that year showcased their evolving style, balancing acoustic warmth with subtle beat influences. Working with producer Moto Kawabe of Mitsume and engineer Toshihiko Kasai, the band refined a sound that feels both organic and contemporary. In 2026, Gingersamm expanded their catalog with the release of "SATELLITE", further highlighting their nuanced fusion of folk intimacy and rhythmic experimentation. Their debut EP, Namae, was released on May 20, 2026, followed by a self-produced live event in June.
