Biography
Luigi Finizio, known professionally as Gigi Finizio, is an Italian singer and composer who was born in 1965 in Naples. He began learning the piano at age five and passed the SIAE exam at age nine. Finizio appeared on television programs including Argento e oro and Tandem and released his debut studio album, For'a scola, (1974). He achieved a commercial breakthrough with the album A te donna (1984), which featured the single âOdioâ (1984) and sold more than 300,000 copies. In 1994, he won the Sanremo Giovani competition with the song âScacco mattoâ (1994). He placed third at the 45th Festival of Sanremo with the song âLo specchio dei pensieriâ (1995). His eponymous studio album, Lo specchio dei pensieri, was released (1995) through the label Fonit Cetra and earned a gold certification. In 1997, he performed the lead role in the musical Masaniello. His later recordings include the studio albums Buona Luna (2013), Io torno, pt. 1 (2018), and Io torno, pt. 2 (2021).
