Italian singer Luigi "Gigi" D'Alessio was born in Naples on 24 February 1967 and has risen to become a household name in Italy selling over 20 million records. His best known hit is a duet he released with the Belgian-Scicilian singer Laura Fabian titled "Un Cuore Malato". The single was an international hit and established Gigi D'Alessio as a popular easy listening star around the globe. Capitalising on the song's success, Gigi D'Alessio released other variants of the track including a part-Portugese version with the Brazilian singer Wanessa Camargo. When he started his professional career in the 1990s Gigi D'Alessio, being a native Neapolitan, began singing around the city and soon became very popular. Eventually, by the late '90s the singer had become so successful he was able to elevate himself to conduct his career in a less intimidating environment than the gangster-ruled Naples. With numerous platinum album accreditations Gigi D'Alessio is now one of Europe's most successful singers. Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, Gigi DâAlessio consolidated his mainstream success with a series of highly successful albums. His first charted album Quando la mia vita cambierà (2000) marked his national breakthrough, followed by number ones Il cammino dellâetà (2001) and Uno come te (2022), which confirmed his popularity with Italian audiences. He continued his chart dominance with albums such as Made in Italy (2006), Questo sono io (2008), Ora (2013), Buongiorno (2020).
