Biography

Gideon "Gidi" Ephraim Gov, born on August 4, 1950 in Rehovot, Israel, is a singer, television presenter, and actor. He began his entertainment career after being recommended to audition for The Nahal Troupe during his military service. His breakthrough came at the 1973 Israeli Song and Chorus Festival with "Go Up and Arrive". That year, Gov co-founded the band Kaveret, which became one of the most popular Israeli bands in the 1970s. The band released three albums, represented Israel in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with "Natati La Khayay", and won "Band of the Year" four times consecutively. After Kaveret disbanded in 1976, Gov released his first solo album titled First Album in 1978. In the late 1970s, he also formed Gazoz with Danny Sanderson and released two albums.
