Giovanni Pettenati, known professionally as Gianni Pettenati, and born on October 29, 1945, in Piacenza, Italy, is a singer and music critic. He began his career at a young age, winning a music competition and performing in a play by Luigi Pirandello. In April 1965, he won the Festival di Bellaria and joined the group Juniors for the recording of "Come una pietra che rotola", a cover of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone." His breakthrough came with the release of "Bandiera Gialla," the Italian version of The Pied Piper of Hamelin. Pettenati participated in the Sanremo Music Festival in 1967 and 1968, performing "La rivoluzione" and "La tramontana." Throughout his career, he released several albums including Par La Mòrt Dun Sunadùr (1973), Bandiera Azzrra (1984), and Bandiera Gialla (1996). Pettenati passed away on February 22, 2025, in Albenga, Liguria.
