Biography

George Colligan, born December 29, 1969, in New Jersey, is an American jazz pianist, organist, drummer, trumpeter, composer, and bandleader. He grew up in Columbia, Maryland, and studied classical trumpet at the Peabody Institute before transitioning to piano. Colligan collaborated with various notable musicians like Gary Bartz, Don Byron, and Benny Golson. His debut album Activism was released in 1996 under the SteepleChase label. Subsequent albums include Stomping Ground (2000) and Live at Blue Alley (2003). Colligan has performed at various festivals including the Vancouver International Jazz Festival and the Cancun Jazz Festival. He has also been recognized with awards including the Chamber Music America for Composition and the Jazzconnect.com award.
