Biography

Generation Axe, an American rock band formed in 2016, is a heavy metal supergroup initiated by Steve Vai. The group features notable guitarists including Zakk Wylde, Yngwie Malmsteen, Nuno Bettencourt, and Tosin Abasi, along with a backing band that includes Pete Griffin on bass and various keyboardists and drummers. Generation Axe embarked on their first tour in North America in April and May 2016, followed by an Asian tour in April 2017. They released their album The Guitars That Destroyed the World: Live in China in 2019, capturing their live performances from the Asian leg of their tours. The band continued to perform across North America and Asia through 2018 and 2019.
