Biography

Few bands have achieved such a perfect balance between heavy metal and progressive metal as Symphony X. After a hesitant debut in 1994 with Symphony X, guitarist Michael Romeo's band attracted attention in 1997 with The Divine Wings of Tragedy. Subsequent attempts proved less brilliant, despite growing success. In 2007, Paradise Lost finally established Symphony X both artistically and commercially, especially in France. Since then, the American band has established itself as one of the genre's leading lights, with albums such as Iconoclast (2011), about new technologies, and Underworld (2015), inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy.
