Robert Payer, born in 1933 in Agendorf bei Sopron, Hungary, was a musician. He played the tenorhorn in a local brass band as a child and later served in the Hungarian military as a trombonist. After moving to Germany following the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, Payer earned a musician's diploma under Fritz Heckler. In 1960, he founded the Original Burgenlandkapelle, a brass orchestra based in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The ensemble gained prominence through performances on folk radio and television shows, as well as album releases. Notable songs include "In der Weinschenke" and "Grüà Gott ihr Freunde", which reached number 6 in the German preliminary round for the Grand Prix der Volksmusik in 1991. Payer's albums include Lebensfreude Mit Schönen Melodien (2004).
