Gatsbys American Dream, an American indie rock band from Seattle, Washington, was formed in 2001 by Bobby Darling, Casey Bates, Josh Berg, Dustin McGhie, Nic Newsham, and Ryan Van Wieringen. Their debut album Why We Fight was released in 2002 under Rocketstar Recordings. The band's lineup changed several times before releasing their second album, Ribbons and Sugar, in 2003. In 2005, Gatsbys American Dream released their third full-length album, Volcano, under Fearless Records. Their self-titled fourth album was released in 2006, marked by numerous pop culture references, and reached number 22 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. After a period of relative inactivity, Gatsbys American Dream officially reunited in October 2010, re-released two albums, and issued the tracks "Modern Man" and "Untitled" on their website, after which the band went inactive again.
