Biography
Nick Ingman is a British composer, conductor and arranger who has worked with a wide array of pop and rock artists such as Diana Ross, David Bowie, Elton John, Eric Clapton, and Blur. Labeled "the George Martin of Oasis" on the Oasis podcasts, he was the arranger on the band's albums 'Masterwall' and 'The Masterplan'. A prolific composer, he has written hundreds of musical themes for American radio and worked regularly with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic.
Born in London, Ingman's early interest in music led him to attend the Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, followed by post-graduate study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama back in England. Working for producer Norrie Paramor, he was assistant arranger on recordings by Cliff Richard and he composed many library tracks. He arranged the song 'Long Live Love', sung by Olivia Newton John, that placed fourth in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, and later arranged songs for artists including Annie Lennox, Björk, Blur, Radiohead and Suede.
Ingman was on staff with the BBC Radio Orchestra as arranger and conductor for many years and he established a commercial music department at the Royal College of Music. He wrote the theme music for the 1990 BBC comedy series 'Keeping Up Appearances' and he was an orchestrator and conductor on Stephen Warbeck's Academy Award-winning score for John Madden's 'Shakespeare in Love' (1998). He has worked as conductor or orchestrator on many other films including 'The Saint' (1997), 'Mrs Brown' (1997), 'Ronin' (1998), 'Billy Elliot' (2000), 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' (2003), 'Stardust' (2007), 'A Most Wanted Man' (2014) and 'Shin Godzilla' (2016).
