Faegheh Atashin, known professionally as Googoosh, was born on May 5, 1950, in Tehran, Iran, and is an Iranian singer and former actress. She began her career as a child star, performing with her father and later for the royal court of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Googoosh's breakthrough came in 1971 when she won first prize at the Cannes Festival for her French songs "Retour à La Ville" and "J'entends Crier Je T'aime". She continued to gain international recognition, winning the Carthage Music Festival in 1972. Her career was interrupted by the Iranian Revolution in 1979, during which she was banned from public performances. In 2000, after a 21-year hiatus, Googoosh resumed her career with several album releases and international tours. Notable releases include the albums زرتشت = Zoroaster, آخرÙ٠خبر = Last News (2004), Manifest (2005), and Aks Khosoosi (2015).
