Biography

G Herbo (formerly Lil Herb), real name Herbert Randall Wright III, was born on October 8, 1995 in Chicago, Illinois (USA), where he grew up in a neighborhood plagued by gang violence. After leaving school at 16, he decided to devote himself to music. Influenced by rappers such as Meek Mill, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti and Lil Wayne, he attracted attention in 2012 with the song "Kill Shit", recorded with his friend Lil Bibby. It garnered tens of millions of views on social networks, and earned the duo an introduction as "the future" by Canada's Drake. Between 2014 and 2016, G Herbo released a series of four mixtapes that consolidated his burgeoning aura: Welcome to Fazoland and Pistol P Project in 2014, Ballin Like I'm Kobe in 2015 and Strictly 4 My Fans in 2016. His first proper album, Humble Beast, came in 2017 and reached number 21 in the US charts. He then released a collaborative album with Southside, Swervo, which reached #15. Still Swervin, in 2019, reached #41. G Herbo releases a new mixtape at the end of the year, Sessions, which reaches No. 100. With his next two albums, the Chicago rapper finally enters the Top 10, with PTSD reaching No. 7 in 2020 and its successor 25 at No. 5 in 2021. A year later, the album Survivor's Remorse is divided into two parts: A Side and B Side. Ranked at No. 9 in the U.S. charts, this fifth album features a host of guests, including Jeremih, Offset, Future, Benny the Butcher, Young Thug, A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Gunna. After a new mixtape, Strictly 4 My Fans 2 (2023), the track "My City" features on the soundtrack to the film Fast & Furious: Fast X, followed by the album Big Swerv (2024), which welcomes 21 Savage, Skilla Baby, Sexxy Red, Chief Keef, BabyDrill and Rob49. Two mixtapes follow, Strictly for My Fans 2.0 in November 2024 and Greatest Rapper Alive the following month, driven by the hit "Went Legit" (#22 on the rap charts).
