Freeway High High was a Japanese folk duo from Nagasaki Prefecture formed in 1999, comprising vocalistâguitarists Ryuuya Inoue (born 29â¯Septemberâ¯1981) and Shinichi Yamanaka (born 22â¯Decemberâ¯1981). The pair signed with King Records in 2004 and issued their first single "Rain Man", followed by chartâperforming tracks such as "Maboshiin" and "Kiseki". Their selfâtitled debut album FREEWAY HIGH HIGH, including the notable track "MaboroshÄ«n", arrived on 5â¯Julyâ¯2006, cementing their place in contemporary folk. Subsequent releases included the albums Kanata e (2008), Punchiline (2010) and This is pop station ï½21 seiki no hanranï½ (2012), while the 2014 miniâalbum Hoshizora No Ue No Propose broadened their catalog. Freeway High High appeared on national stages, including the 2005 Summer Nagasaki Music Festival, and toured extensively across Japan, earning a nomination for Best Folk Act at the 2009 Japanese Music Awards.
