Dean Fujioka is a Japanese actor, musician, singer-songwriter, model, and director. He was born Tatsuo Fujioka on August 19, 1980, in Sukagawa, Fukushima Prefecture. Dean Fujioka grew up in a multicultural environment and later studied IT in Seattle, Washington. He started his career as a model in Hong Kong in 2004, transitioning to acting in 2006 with his debut in the TV series Goku DÅ High School. By 2007, he was gaining attention with roles in TV series like Corner with Love. In 2011, Dean Fujioka joined talent agency Amuse, Inc. He starred in notable films like Seediq Bale and Black & White Episode I: The Dawn of Assault. He directed his first film in 2013, titled I Am Ichihashi: Journal of a Murderer. He embarked on his music career in 2016, releasing his first album Cycle and the hit single "History Maker," which became the opening song for the anime Yuri!!! On Ice. This single introduced him to a global audience. In 2017, he released the EPs Permanent Vacation and Let It Snow! while also starring in various TV shows and the film adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist. The following year, he toured across Japan and won Best Leading Actor at the 12th Confidence Award Drama Prize for his role in The Count of Monte-Cristo: Great Revenge. His second album History in the Making was released in 2019, followed by his first tour of Asia. Over the following years, he continued his music endeavors with the album Transmute (2021), followed by the singles "Take Over" (2021) and "Apple" (2022). In 2023, Dean Fujioka issued the album Stars of the Lid, a greatest hits compilation that peaked at Number 19 on the Japanese Top 100.
