Biography
Fred Small is an American singer-songwriter born as Frederick Emerson Small on November 6, 1952. Originally a lawyer and environmental policy specialist, he transitioned to a musical career and released his debut studio album, Love's Gonna Carry Us (1981). He achieved professional recognition for folk music featuring political and ethical themes, notably the tracks âHeart of the Appaloosaâ (1983) and âEverything Possibleâ (1983). His recording career includes the studio albums No Limit (1985), I Will Stand Fast (1988), and Only Love (2001). After graduating from Harvard Divinity School, Small served as a Unitarian Universalist minister in Littleton and Cambridge between 1996 and 2015. In 2015, he became the Minister for Climate Justice at Arlington Street Church in Boston to focus on climate advocacy.
