Biography
The association between gospel singer Fred Hammond and the Radical for Christ group proved successful in the late 1990s. Born in Detroit on December 27, 1960, Frederick William Hammond had just established his career with the group Commission, when he decided to surround himself with the Radical for Christ choir, made up of young singers from Detroit. Four albums were released between 1995 and 200. The first, The Inner Court (1995), was an immediate success, reaching No. 10 in the gospel charts, while its successor, Spirit of David (1997), reached No. 2 and was certified gold. The group's popularity in the gospel community continued to grow with the next two #1 albums, Pages of Life - Chapters I & II in 1998 and Purpose by Design in 2000. Both were nominated for Grammy Awards, with the latter winning Best Contemporary Gospel Album at the Dove Awards in 2001.
