Frankie Ford, born Vincent Francis Guzzo on August 4, 1939, in Gretna, Louisiana, was an American musician known for his contributions to soul music. He began performing at local events and winning talent contests from a young age. His breakthrough came in 1959 with the release of "Sea Cruise" for Ace Records, which reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. This success led to his debut album Let's Take a Sea Cruise with Frankie Ford. He later signed with Imperial Records and released several singles, including "Seventeen," which reached number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961.
Frankie Ford toured extensively, appearing on shows like American Bandstand and performing alongside artists such as Chuck Berry. He was drafted into the military in 1962 and entertained troops in Japan, Vietnam, and Korea. In the 1990s, he capitalized on the nostalgia for 1950s music, touring extensively and releasing albums like Hot & Lonely (1995). He was inducted into several halls of fame, including the Museum of the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame in 1998. He continued to release albums such as Night Songs (2002), The Legend (2006), and On the Street Where You Live (2009) before his passing on September 28, 2015, at the age of 76.
