Francy, born Francia Elena Hernández RÃos on March 12, 1981 in GuacarÃ, Valle del Cauca, is one of Colombiaâs most prominent voices in a genre known as "música popular." She began singing at age 13 under the mentorship of DarÃo Gómez, with whom she released her breakthrough single âComo un Ãngel.â Her early success paved the way for hits like âRaticos de Amor,â âDéjalo libre,â and the enduring anthem âSi se fue, se fue,â a track that became a symbol of female empowerment and was later covered in countries like Mexico, Uruguay, and Argentina. Over her three-decade career, Francy has helped elevate the role of women in a traditionally male-dominated genre, with songs like âEl mal marido,â âUsted señor,â and âHay otro en mi camaâ cementing her as a pioneer of strong, emotionally resonant storytelling from a womanâs perspective. She has toured extensively throughout Latin America and Europe, participated in collaborative albums such as Triunfadores De La Música Popular, and released anthems inspired by her life and experiences, including âQue hablen de mÃâ and âNo tengo dueño.â
