Biography

Francy, born Francia Elena Hernández Ríos on March 12, 1981 in Guacarí, Valle del Cauca, is one of Colombia’s most prominent voices in a genre known as "música popular." She began singing at age 13 under the mentorship of Darío Gómez, with whom she released her breakthrough single “Como un Ángel.” Her early success paved the way for hits like “Raticos de Amor,” “Déjalo libre,” and the enduring anthem “Si se fue, se fue,” a track that became a symbol of female empowerment and was later covered in countries like Mexico, Uruguay, and Argentina. Over her three-decade career, Francy has helped elevate the role of women in a traditionally male-dominated genre, with songs like “El mal marido,” “Usted señor,” and “Hay otro en mi cama” cementing her as a pioneer of strong, emotionally resonant storytelling from a woman’s perspective. She has toured extensively throughout Latin America and Europe, participated in collaborative albums such as Triunfadores De La Música Popular, and released anthems inspired by her life and experiences, including “Que hablen de mí” and “No tengo dueño.”
