Biography

Nicolás Hernández Penagos, known artistically as Nico Hernández, was born on July 21, 2000, in Bogotá, Colombia and built his career as a singer, songwriter and producer within the Regional Colombian scene. After early work that he released independently in the late 2010s, Nico Hernández began gaining attention in the early 2020s with original songs that mixed a modern, melodic approach with regional arrangements, laying the groundwork for later releases such as “Y Si Me Dejas,” “Dime” and “El Malo.” A key milestone in 2023 was “Una Noche,” his collaboration with fellow Colombian artist Pipe Bueno, which he co-wrote and co-produced and which positioned Nico Hernández as both a performer and a behind-the-boards creative force; later that year he revisited “El Malo” in a remix featuring Pipe Bueno and Jessi Uribe and collaborated with Perdidos de Sinaloa on the track "Voy a Amarte (Remix)." Continuing to release new material, Nico Hernández returned in 2024 with the single “Hasta Siempre,” confirming the continuity of his catalog and underlining his role in connecting Colombian regional music. In 2025, he released the album Lo Más Importante Es el Amor, featuring guest appearances by Juan Duque, Pipe Bueno, Luis Vega, Jhon Alex Castaño, and Jhonny Rivera.
