Biography

A veritable phenomenon ofeasy-listening music, Marseilles-based conductor Franck Pourcel achieved international renown by adapting the hits of the moment in jazz and classical styles, from 1952 until his death in 2000. His name, attached to the orchestral versions of Amours, Danses et Violons (pop music) and Pages Célèbres (classical music), is as well known as he is discreet. Adored in the USA and Japan, Franck Pourcel sells millions of records, from "Only You" and "Blue Tango" to "Chariot " (aka "I Will Follow Him") and the Concorde anthem. In addition to his own readings of Un Américain à Paris, Pourcel Meets The Beatles, Pourcel Rencontre Abba and Édith et Pourcel, the lively conductor has composed music for films and stage shows, and launched the careers of Paul Mauriat and Michel Berger.
