Biography

The Hollyridge Strings, an American studio orchestra formed in 1964, specialized in easy‑listening arrangements of contemporary pop hits and recorded for Capitol Records. Their debut release, The Beach Boys Songbook (1964), featured orchestral covers of popular tracks and established the group’s signature style, followed by The Beach Boys Songbook Vol. 2 (1965) and Christmas Favorites (1965). In the week of July 4, 1964, their rendition of "All My Loving" by The Beatles entered the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 93, marking the group’s brief chart appearance. Producers Stu Phillips, Mort Garson, and Perry Botkin, Jr. guided the ensemble’s arrangements, while the orchestra interpreted songs by The Four Seasons, Elvis Presley, Simon & Garfunkel, and Nat "King" Cole. The group ceased activity in the early 1970s, concluding a decade‑long contribution to the classical crossover genre.
