Biography

Melville was a French rock band from Paris, formed in 1995 by Emmanuel Tellier (vocals and guitar), Étienne Dutin (guitar), Pierre Palmieri (bass), and Luc Durand (drums) following the dissolution of Chelsea, which was another band featuring Tellier, Dutin, and Palmieri. Their debut EP, La Dérive, was released in 1997. Their unique sound, characterized by Emmanuel Tellier’s French lyrics and a raw, electric guitar-driven style, garnered attention from V2 Records, who signed them in 1996. The band's sole album, Est-ce que l'amour restera?, was recorded in England and mixed in Paris and Brussels, showcasing high production values and critical acclaim. Released in 1998, the album sold 15,000 copies and featured notable singles like "Qu’importe ce qu’on dit" and "Allez allez". The band disbanded on April 7, 1999, following a final concert at L’Élysée-Montmartre.
