Filthy Thieving Bastards is an American folk/punk rock group formed in 2000 in San Francisco, California. The band began as a side project by Johnny Bonnel and Darius Koski of Swingin' Utters, later joined by Spike Slawson from the same band and recording engineer Randy Burk. Their debut release was the EP Our Fathers Sent Us (2000) on TKO Records. In 2001, they released their first full-length album A Melody of Retreads and Broken Quills on BYO Records. Subsequent albums include My Pappy Was a Pistol (2005) and "I'm A Son of a Gun" (2007), both on BYO Records. The latter featured Spider Stacey of the Pogues. The song "Drug Lords of the Avenues" was featured on the skateboarding video-game Skate.
