Ferhat Tunç, born Ferhat Tunç Yoslun on March 14, 1964, in BabaocaÄı, Ovacık, Tunceli, Turkey, is a singer and songwriter of Kurdish-Zaza origin. Raised in an Alevi-Kurdish family, Tunç's musical talent emerged during his childhood, influenced by the folk songs of his grandparents. In 1979, he moved to Germany with his father, where he began learning German at a vocational school in Rüsselsheim. His debut album Kızılırmak was released in West Germany in 1982. Tunç's subsequent albums include Bu Yürek Bu Sevda Var İken (1984) and Vurgunum Hasretine (1986), which featured collaborations with notable musicians such as Darnel Summers and Hasan Hüseyin Demirel. In 1988, Tunç collaborated with Ahmet Kaya on several concerts and tours. His music often reflected the political and social struggles of his region, including themes related to Kurdish and Alevi identity.
