Biography

Fast Romantics, a Canadian indie rock band, was formed in Calgary, Alberta in 2009 by former members of The Mood: Matthew Angus, Matthew Kliewer, and Jeffrey Lewis. They released their first self-titled EP in 2008. In September 2009, Fast Romantics were selected as global finalists in Spin Magazine's "Free the Noise" competition, performing at CBGB in New York City. The band relocated to Toronto in 2014 and released their album Afterlife Blues in 2013, with the single "Funeral Song" charting on national alternative rock radio. In 2015, they released the single "Julia", which reached top 5 on CBC Radio 2 and won the SOCAN Songwriting Prize in June 2016. The band's third full-length album, American Love, was released in April 2017 under Light Organ Records. They released the album, Pick It Up, in 2020.
