Biography

Farmers Manual, an electronic music and visual art group, was founded in Vienna, Austria, in 1995. The core members included Mathias Gmachl, Stefan Possert, Oswald Berthold, Gert Brantner, and Nik Gaffney. Their early work included the release of the album No Backup (1996) and the EP FM (1996). Farmers Manual quickly gained recognition for their innovative approach to blending electronic music with live visuals, experimental graphics, and web design. Subsequent releases include Fsck (1997) and Explorers_We (1998). In 2003, they released RLA, a DVD containing an extensive backcatalogue of live concert recordings from 1995 to 2003. The group's work was also notably featured in numerous international festivals such as FCMM (Montreal, 1999), Avanto (Helsinki, 2001), and Art+Communication (Riga, 2006).
