Evan Christopher, born on August 31, 1969 in Long Beach, California, is an American clarinetist and composer known for his work in the New Orleans jazz style. He began his musical training at the Idyllwild School of Music and Arts and later at the University of Southern California. In the 1990s, Christopher toured with A.J. Croce, which led him to New Orleans in 1994. He joined the Jim Cullum Jazz Band in San Antonio, Texas, where he performed nightly and recorded for Riverwalk Jazz. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Christopher relocated briefly to Paris. He later returned to New Orleans, collaborating with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Notable works include his concerto Treat It Gentle Suite, performed by the Minnesota Orchestra in 2010 and "Heavy Henry" for the Treme soundtrack.
