Ernst Glerum, born on April 20, 1955, in Deventer, Netherlands, is a Dutch jazz contrabassist. He studied at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam and played with the Asko Ensemble while collaborating with notable musicians such as Curtis Clark and Hans Dulfer. In 1984, Glerum co-founded the Amsterdam String Trio with Maurice Horsthuis and Ernst Reijseger, which also served as the string section for the Instant Composers Pool Orchestra. The trio released several albums including Dodekakania (1986) and Wild West (1989). Glerum's extensive discography includes collaborations with artists like Steve Lacy, Lee Konitz, and John Zorn. He also founded the record label Favorite in 2004 and has released solo albums such as Elbow Room (1997). Additionally, Glerum has been an educator at the Konservatorium Amsterdam.
