Ernán López-Nussa Lekszycki, born on September 10, 1958 in Havana, Cuba, is a jazz pianist and composer. He studied classical piano at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana. López-Nussa began his career in 1977 as a member of the jazz septet Afrocuba, founded by trumpeter Roberto Garcia López. The group's first international performance was at Ronnie Scottâs Jazz Club in London. López-Nussa has since won numerous awards and is recognized as one of Cuba's leading jazz musicians. His notable compositions include Figuraciones, originally for solo piano but later arranged for three pianos by Alejandro Riquelme. López-Nussa has released several albums, including From Havana to Rio (2000), Mano de Obra (2006), and Delirium (2011). He often performs solo or in a piano trio format.
