Biography
Scandinavian jazz unit Emil Brandqvist Trio includes Brandqvist, a Swedish drummer and the groupâs primary composer, along with fellow Swede Max Thornberg on bass and Finnish pianist Tuomas Turunen. After signing to German jazz and world music label Skip Records, the trio made its recording debut alongside the Sjöströmska String Quartet on the 2013 album Breathe Out, and then stepped out on its own with the Echo-nominated Seascapes in 2015. Falling Crystals followed in 2016, but it was Within a Dream that threatened to break the band to a wider audience in 2018, when its track âI Miss Youâ became a success in the streaming ecosystem, giving them something close to a bonafide hit. Entering the Woods arrived in 2020, and featured the single âRaindropsâ.
