Magnus was a Belgian electronic and dance music project formed in Antwerp by dEUS frontman Tom Barman and techno producer CJ Bolland. The duo debuted in 2004 with the album The Body Gave You Everything, which featured the singles âSummer's Hereâ, âJumpneedleâ, and âFrench Moviesâ. Several tracks, including âRhythm Is Defiedâ, were used in the soundtrack for the 2003 film Any Way the Wind Blows, directed by Barman. After a ten-year hiatus, the ensemble returned in 2014 with their second studio album, Where Neon Goes to Die. The record included guest contributions from artists such as Selah Sue, Tim Vanhamel, Blaya, and Tom Smith of Editors, who performed on the single âSinging Manâ. In 2017, Barman and Bolland released the compilation Best of Magnus and announced their retirement from the project. The group concluded their activities with a final concert at the Ancienne Belgique in December 2018.
