Henný Eldey Vilhjálmsdóttir, known professionally as Elly Vilhjálms, and born on December 28, 1935, was an Icelandic singer. She began her career in 1956 with the band Orion, founded by her first husband Eyþór Ãorláksson. The band toured military bases and disbanded in 1958. Elly Vilhjálms' breakthrough came in 1962 with the recording of "Vegir liggja til allra átta" for the film 79 af stöðinni. She released several hits including "Ãg vil fara upp à sveit" (1960),"Sveitin milli sanda" (1965), and an English-language song "Almost Like Being in Love" (1995). She also notably recorded "Heyr mÃna bæn" (1981), a cover of the Italian Eurovision Song Contest winning song "Non ho l'età ". Her music was also featured in an episode of Grey's Anatomy in 2021. She passed away on November 16, 1995.
