Biography

El Mató a un Policía Motorizado originated in La Plata, Argentina, formed in 2003 by Santiago C. Motorizado Barrionuevo (bass, vocals), Guillermo Doctora Muerte Ruiz Díaz (drums), Gustavo Niño Elefante Monsalvo (guitar), and Agustín Chatrán Chatrán Spasoff (keyboards from 2012). The band’s debut self‑titled album El Mató a un Policía Motorizado was released in 2004, establishing their indie rock sound characterized by distorted guitars and concise songwriting. In 2005 they issued the EP Navidad de Reserva, followed by the 2008 album Día de los Muertos, which marked their first European appearance at Primavera Sound in 2010. The 2012 release La Dinastía Scorpio expanded their lineup with keyboards and achieved significant domestic acclaim. La Síntesis O'konor (2017) was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2018 Latin Grammy Awards, while the 2019 album La Otra Dimensión included reworked tracks from earlier sessions and a duet with Anabella Cartolano. The 2021 album Unas Vacaciones Raras featured re-recorded songs for the Okupas soundtrack, and the 2023 release Súper Terror debuted on 7 July, accompanied by a national tour. The group received a Diploma al Mérito from the Fundación Konex in 2025 for their decade‑long contribution to Argentine music.
